LA GRANGE CITY SPRING
(Circa early 1800’s)

The City Spring is largely responsible for the site of La Grange.  The spring’s location on the Westport-Shelbyville Road in the early 1800’s resulted in the plotting of La Grange’s original sixteen (16) block street gridiron in 1827.  Water from the spring still flows and efforts at making the area around the spring more accessible to the general public are currently being explored.

The spring is located just off 2nd Street to the right. There is a little road that runs past it.
