LAGRANGE CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING

FEBRUARY 9, 2009

 

 

CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT        Elsie Carter, Mayor; Stephanie Cooper, City Clerk and Graham Whatley, City Attorney

 

COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT                       Tom Goldsmith, Wally Nay, Jason Taylor, Jean Knight, Melanie Woosley, Debbie Pollard.  Linda Hall and Joe Davenport were absent.

 

Mayor Carter called the meeting at 6:40 p.m. and led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR JANUARY 5, 2009    Councilwoman Woosley made motion to approve January 5, 2009 minutes, seconded by Councilwoman Pollard.  The motion in favor of passed unanimously, 6 to 0.

 

LAGRANGE POLICE DEPT REPORT ON TRAFFIC CONTROL/SURPLUS PROPERTY       Chief Kevin Collett presented to council a list of surplus property.  There will be an auction on Saturday, February 21, 2009, at Mundo Park from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Councilwoman Knight made motion to surplus property, seconded by Councilwoman Pollard.  Mayor Carter calls for question:  Councilman Goldsmith-yes, Councilman Nay-yes, Councilman Taylor-yes, Councilwoman Knight-yes, Councilwoman Woosley-yes and Councilwoman Pollard-yes. The motion in favor of passed unanimously, 6 to 0.          

 

PRESENTATION BY JIM ZIMMERMAN ON CUB BANK      Jim Zimmerman, Fran Scott, Scott-Klausing & Co. and Billy Wade, CEO of Cub Bank, made a presentation for Mayor and City Council.     

 

APPOINTMENT TO LAGRANGE UTILITIES COMMISSION                        Councilman Taylor made motion to table appointment to LaGrange Utilities Commission until the next regular scheduled city council meeting, seconded by Councilman Goldsmith.  The motion in favor of passed unanimously, 6 to 0.

 

FIRST READING ON ORDINANCE 2-2009 - AN ORDINANCE REVISING THE ZONING MAP OF CITY OF LAGRANGE/1201 COMMERCE PKWY/HILLS COMMUNITY Stephanie Cooper, City Clerk, read Ordinance 2-2009.

 

 

SECOND READING AND PUBLIC HEARING OF ORDINANCE 1-2009 - AN ORDINANCE REGULATING USE OF SKATEBOARDS AND OTHER SIMILAR DEVICES AND POSSIBLE MOTION TO APPROVE          Mayor Carter mentioned to Council members that Ordinance 1-2009 will be sent back to Ordinance committee due to changes.
