LAGRANGE CITY COUNCIL

OCTOBER 5, 2009

 

CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT       Elsie Carter, Mayor, Stephanie Cooper, City Clerk and Graham Whatley, City Attorney.

 

COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT           Tom Goldsmith, Wally Nay, Jason Taylor, Jean Knight, Melanie Woosley, Debbie Pollard and Linda Hall.  Joe Davenport was absent.

 

Mayor Carter called the meeting at 6:36 p.m.  Mayor Carter led council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR SEPTEMBER 8, 2009 MEETING   Councilwoman Pollard made motion to approve September 8, 2009 minutes, seconded by Councilwoman Hall.  The motion in favor of passed unanimously, 7 to 0. 

 

LAGRANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORT        Chief Collett gave a report to Council about fishing derby at Eagle Creek Golf Course on September 26, 2009.

 

DISCOVER DOWNTOWN LAGRANGE REPORT     Barbara Edds, gave report on past and present events.

 

PUBLIC COMMENT          Tom Cox, 7514 Sunset Lane, Crestwood, made comment on compensation for Mayor and City Council.       

 

1ST READING OF ORDINANCE 7-2009 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAGRANGE AMENDING CHAPTER 92 OF THE LAGRANGE CODE OF ORDINANCES REFERRING TO NUISANCES         

Councilwoman Pollard made motion to take ordinance off table (Ordinance 27-2007 which this ordinance was tabled in December of 2007), seconded by Councilwoman Knight.  The motion in favor of passed unanimously, 7 to 0.  Second reading and public hearing will be on November 2, 2009.

 

NEW BUSINESS/COMMITTEE REPORTS  Councilwoman Knight mentioned Park Board meeting is Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Eagle Creek Golf Course.
