LAGRANGE CITY COUNCIL

JUNE 7, 2010

CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT Elsie Carter, Mayor, Graham Whatley, City Attorney and Stephanie Cooper, City Clerk.

COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT Debbie Pollard, Jean Knight, Melanie Woosley, Tom Goldsmith, Joe Davenport, Jason Taylor and Linda Hall.  Wally Nay was absent.

Mayor Carter called the meeting at 6:32 p.m.  Mayor Carter led Council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR APRIL 5, 2010 MEETING        Councilwoman Hall made motion to approve May 3, 2010 minutes, seconded by Councilwoman Woosley.  The motion in favor of passed unanimously, 7 to 0.

PRESENTATION OF 2008/2009 AUDIT     Jerry Hensley with Ray, Foley, Hensley & Company did a presentation of the 2008/2009 audit.

Councilwoman Woosley had an emergency and left meeting at 6:53 p.m.

PUBLIC COMMENT                Cheryl Erpelding, 205 East Main Street, made comment on the entrance area to her business on Main Street.

PROCLAMATION OF EDDIE MUNDO - NAME CHANGE OF MULBERRY STREET TO EDDIE MUNDO WAY   Mayor Carter read proclamation.  Councilwoman Pollard made motion to accept Mulberry Street a one-way street and change name to Eddie Mundo Way, seconded by Councilwoman Knight and Councilman Goldsmith.  The motion in favor of passed unanimously, 7 to 0.

DISCOVER DOWNTOWN LAGRANGE REPORT    Barbara Edds gave a report of past and future events.

FIRST READING OF ORDINANCE 4-2010- AN ORDINANCE CREATING A CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD FOR THE CITY OF LAGRANGE Stephanie Cooper, City Clerk, read Ordinance 4-2010 and public hearing will be July 6, 2010.  Chief Collett explained to Council on how the enforcement board would operate.

FIRST READING OF ORDINANCE 5-2010 - AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE CITY OF LAGRANGE, KY ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2010 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011 BY ESTIMATING FUNDS FOR OPERATIONS OF CITY GOVERNMENT   Stephanie Cooper, City Clerk, read Ordinance 5-2010 and public hearing will be July 6, 2010.

FIRST READING OF ORDINANCE 6-2010 - AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF AN ALLEY AS SHOWN ON THE PLAT OF JOSEPH SAUER HOME PLACE Stephanie Cooper, City Clerk, read Ordinance 6-2010 and public hearing will be July 6, 2010.

NEW BUSINESS/COMMITTEE REPORTS      Mayor Carter stated to Council a copy of refund check from CSX is in packet along with an e-mail from Tom Drake.  Councilwoman Knight made comment to Council about attending the LaGrange Park Board meetings.  Councilman Davenport made comment about trees on Kentucky Avenue.

ADJOURN   Mayor Carter adjourned meeting at 7:40 p.m.
