ORDINANCE NO. 13-2008
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PERSONNEL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AND CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION PLAN FOR THE CITY OF LAGRANGE
WHEREAS, the City of LaGrange has adopted a Personnel Policies and Procedures and Classification and Compensation Plan which needs revision; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of LaGrange has received the recommendation of the Safety Committee;
NOW BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAGRANGE, KENTUCKY AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Personnel Policies and Procedures and Classification and
Compensation Plan is hereby amended by adding the following new language to the section designated at PART III. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT, subpart N. Use of City Property, Vehicle, Equipment and golf carts in the Employee Handbook.
2. The new section shall read as follows (after existing
Paragraph 4 and new language in bold type and underlined):
“5. No City employee shall operate a City motor
vehicle or golf cart, operate a personal motor vehicle or golf cart while on City business or ride as a passenger in a City motor vehicle or golf cart or ride as a passenger in a personal motor vehicle or golf cart while on city business unless such employee is wearing a safety belt, which is properly adjusted and fastened. No City employees operating a City motor vehicle or golf cart or personal motor vehicle or golf cart on City business shall permit any person to ride as a passenger in such City motor vehicle or golf cart or ride as a passenger in a personal motor vehicle or golf cart on City business unless such person is wearing a safety belt, which is properly adjusted and fastened. Any person operating or riding in City owned equipment that has safety belts shall use said safety belts. The provisions of this mandatory safety belt policy shall be enforced by the City Department heads and supervisors. Disciplinary action shall be taken for violation of the safety belt policy in accordance with the City of LaGrange Personnel Policies and Procedures and Classification and Compensation Plan.”
1. All remaining provisions of the Personnel Policies and Procedures and Classification and Compensation Plan not in conflict with this ordinance are hereby affirmed.
That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force and effect after its passage, approval, and publication as required by law.
