Public Works Department - Ricky Rahm, Director
The Public Works Department is responsible for street maintenance, which includes pothole repair, paving and snow and ice removal. They are also responsible for the construction and repair of sidewalks.

The Public Works Department picks up brush and limbs in designated areas of the City on each Friday of every month. Click here for current pickup schedule & map. For further information call the Public Works Department at 222-8954 or City Hall at 222-1433. This service is provided to aid property owners in the upkeep of their property, not for professional lawn care or tree trimming services. The individuals or companies who provide these services are responsible for the clean up of brush and limbs.

Leaf pickup is also provided by the Public Works Department in the fall and winter on as needed basis. The leaves must be bagged and placed at the curb. If they are not picked up in a timely manner, please call the Public Works Department at 222-8954 or City Hall at 222-1433. Please do not rake leaves onto the public right of way or into culverts or ditches.

The Public Works Department also handles right of way maintenance which includes traffic control signs, drainage, culverts, mowing and the maintenance of trees and shrubs.

The maintenance and mowing of the parks in the City of La Grange is also handled by the Public Works Department. If you would like to reserve the pavilion at any of our parks, please call City Hall at 222-1433. There is a $50.00 deposit required to reserve any of the pavilions, but it is refunded after your event, provided all garbage is removed and the park is left in the same condition you found it.

Encroachment permits are obtained through the Public Works Department. These permits are needed for any entrance on City streets before driveways or any excavating, digging or utility installations are started. These permits are needed before applying for building permits at Planning and Zoning. As of April 9, 2007, Ordinance 16-2007 provides that the City of LaGrange will be charging one hundred dollars ($100.00) for a road encroachment permit for residential uses only. The City of LaGrange will be charging Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) for a road encroachment permit requested for commercial and industrial uses. Applicants will be required to submit a plat having been prepared, signed and certified, by an engineer that is registered to do business in the State of Kentucky. All permits are handled at City Hall.

For information regarding the services provided by the Public Works Department, please call (502) 222-8954 or (502) 222-1433.
