"Be Kind" Oldham County

It's a simple phrase that reminds us to
BE KIND. Two young girls - Raegan and Rylyn Richins (11 and 8) - are not only KIND to their three siblings who all have Down syndrome, but have also poured out that message to encourage their ENTIRE community in Oldham County, Kentucky to BE KIND. Raegan and Rylyn were inspired to create the signs when they saw kindness signs in another county. Since launching this initiative in August 2019, they have handmade almost 1,500 of them to promote the need to BE KIND. Their signs are proudly displayed at private homes and businesses, and even an anonymous donor purchased signs for every public school in Oldham County to remind students and parents to BE KIND. Each sign is $10, and the funds they are raising through this project are going to local charities in the name of their KIND community. Even at a young age, Raegan and Rylyn are teaching us about the importance of being gentle, generous, and charitable. Excerpt from bekindsigns.org |
Hello, I am John Black, Mayor of La Grange. Welcome to the website for the City of LaGrange!
La Grange has been my home my entire life and I am proud of our city. La Grange is a relaxed, suburban community located 20 minutes northeast of Louisville, Kentucky. We are the county seat of Oldham County. We are also easy trek from Cincinnati. We like to say La Grange and Oldham County is where Louisville and Cincinnati meet. La Grange is known for trains. A unique feature of our town is the CSX rail line. La Grange is one of only a few communities in the United States with a rail track running through the heart of the city business district. People come from all over to enjoy watching close-up the 25 or so trains which move each day through our city. Please visit our downtown and train museum. La Grange is known for easy walking, friendly neighbors, and our picturesque town square. We are also 'Open for Business', retail and commercial. Our Oldham Reserve Office Park is a beautiful setting for quality companies seeking to attract employees who wish to work close to home, in a suburban environment. I am always available to meet with citizens or visitors. I can be reached at city hall, or by phone 502-376-6799 or by email Mayor@LaGrangeKY.net |
